Embroidered Collage

  I didn't end up sketching much.  Too much socializing in North Carolina and too much walking and ouch at the resulting hurt feet in Las Vegas.  But I did spend a little time at my grandmother's breakfast table, although the sketch looks nothing like her, then again at the airport, then at the lions. 

The MGM Grand has a lion enclosure and it was wonderful to see them so close, more so than in a typical zoo.  But it was time to chew on large rings of something, fat and meat maybe, while I was there and the two of them kept MOVING.  I just couldn't seem to capture anything but a smudge.  I could trace the shapes with my eyes, but not translate them to the paper.  It was extremely frustrating.  I think part of the problem was that I wasn't familiar with the subject matter, like I would be if I was trying to sketch a moving person.
