Painted Surface - Autumn Footstep

I had imagined the painted the portion rather differently, more brilliant in color and even more abstracted, but this is what came out while I was creating and I think it fits, so I'll move on to the stitching next.

I collaged the fabric onto the gessoed canvas with liquid matte medium, put a base layer of raw sienna on uncovered area of the canvas, and a few bits of autumn forest collage image over the fabric.  Then started painting in more treeish shapes in various colors, working wet in wet as much as I could.  I tried to blur edges and pull some of the paint up over the fabric.  I hadn't been intending to add those last collage images at the bottom, which are over the painted trees, but I had them in my pile of materials and they added to the composition nicely.

See the beginnings of this piece.

Hi Beth, I really like the imagery of your Autumn piece, especially the view beyond the horizon, which moves so gently forward and up. Will you be using various media on it also?

Im glad to hear of your MBA opportunity. Best of luck!

Thanks, Sue, for botht he compliment and the well-wishing. At this point most of what I add to this piece will be fabric and stitching, maybe a little paper.
