Embroidered Collage

  I've been preparing more fabric pieces for my Take a Stitch Tuesday experiments while trying to figure out what I want to do for my next larger piece of art.  I completed them last night and spread them out on the floor to see what I might end up doing with them.  I moved this piece and that piece around and then bunched them all up together with a groan.

I just don't see the kind of sampler piece I'd been envisioning coming out of this collection of oddities.  And I spent all that time on preparing them, too.  The colors are too bright and the patterns too strong and too different from each other.  I just couldn't imagine a ground underneath them that would pull them together into one artwork.  Or even into more than one artwork. 

I'm trying to decide whether to abandon this fabric and start over on something that I'm more certain will coordinate or forge ahead and see what happens.  I need to decide quickly for this week, since I'm almost done with the counted ground portion of detached chain stitch, though I could always change my mind again after that...
